Twitter and taxidermy London Wedding // Nicky + Dave

Apr 25, 2016 | Weddings

I love shooting London weddings, especially ones as fun as this! It took place in east London in a warehouse type place that doesn’t normally do weddings, so it was super special.

Bride and groom Nicky and Dave are “kind of a big deal” on Twitter. Ok, Nicky (@peachesanscream) is. Voted one of Twitter’s funniest women, she’s also super lovely and awesome and I feel lucky to count her as one of my friends. But… I do feel sorry for any other Mr and Mrs Pooles who got married on Saturday. Nicky and Dave’s wedding hashtag #mrandmrspoole trended in London on Twitter, giving Nicky what she called “literally the best wedding present ever”. She had the hashtag on her Rock n Roll Bride veil, in light up letters and on her personalised Converse from Demi Kicks. Plus, with the biggest Tweeters in London present among the 250-300 guests, it was almost inevitable they’d trend. Embarrassingly, when a Twitter-obsessed comedian took a photo of me and tagged me in it, he had to give me a lesson in Twitter just so I could find the photo. He told me it was like teaching his mum how to use a phone. So in retaliation to that comment I’ve included a photo of him scoffing a Refresher bar that took him half an hour to open. I have a feeling we’ll be good friends.

The decorations included a stuffed taxidermy fox (in the middle of a dinner table, I love their guts!) skulls, flowers with eyeballs, poison bottles, cat cupcakes, plastic pigeons, a giant projector (to display those tweets!) and a secret Tuck Shop vodka bar in the stairwell. The ceremony took place at St Georges in the East and the party at Limehouse Town Hall in London.

Dress: Monsoon // Veil: Rock n Roll bride // Shoes: Nine West // Suit: French Connection // Bridesmaids’ dresses: Queen of Holloway // Cake maker: Martin Shenfield // Band: Mariachi Loco // Catering: Maureen’s Pie and Mash // Projector and screen: Radiance Audio // Drawings: Ben Cameron from Strangepaul.co.uk // Venue: Limehouse Town Hall
