The Secret Barn Wedding Venue Sussex – the insider info!
If you’re planning an outdoor barn wedding, The Secret Barn in Sussex is the best you’re going to find. Run by Hannah of Petal and Feast The Secret Barn is a proper rustic barn (none of that built especially for weddings but pretending to be real rubbish) hidden down a country lane in the South Downs. It’s perfect for laid back camping/glamping weddings – and even has an orchard to hold your humanist wedding ceremony. If you imagine the most perfect orchard in a walled garden, you’ve successfully pictured the Secret Barn’s wedding ceremony orchard. There’s also a lawn for games and things, an outdoor area in front of the barn for an outdoor bar, and a fire pit for toasting marshmallows in the evenings. As Hannah says, “think trestle tables, garland lights, hay bales, star gazing, wild flowers, Darling Buds of May, boho romance.”
When I shot there, the weather was so lovely and the sun was setting just as everyone was about to go into the barn for speeches, so I suggested the bring the tables out to the terrace and have speeches outside – it was the best decision, because the speeches were done in the glorious golden sunset!
