Pangdean Old Barn is a brilliant wedding venue just outside Brighton – about 20 minutes from the city but surrounded by countryside, so you get that proper English country garden feel while still being super easy for guests to get to.
The venue sits right at the foot of the South Downs, which means gorgeous views in every direction. There’s a huge lawn, a really pretty garden full of flowers, and the most lovely old Sussex barn that gives the whole place a relaxed, rustic vibe.
It’s one of those venues that works equally well if you want something quite laid back and fun, or if you want to dress it up a bit more.
One of the best things about Pangdean is how much space there is for your guests to spread out and enjoy themselves. The big lawn is perfect for drinks receptions, lawn games and general wandering around chatting in the sunshine.
You can even get legally married outside in the orchard, which is pretty magical when the weather behaves.

As well as the beautiful garden and views across the South Downs, Pangdean also has loads of little touches that make weddings here really fun.
There are swings, go-karts and games dotted around the garden, which keeps both kids and adults entertained during the drinks reception. People inevitably end up racing each other or getting competitive over croquet, which always makes for brilliant photos.
The venue is also really flexible when it comes to how you use the space. There’s loads of room to bring in extra entertainment if you want to – things like food trucks, live music, photo booths or outdoor games all work really well here.
It’s a venue that feels lively and social rather than overly formal, which suits couples who want their wedding to feel like a big relaxed party with their favourite people.

Outdoor ceremonies here are particularly lovely because the garden is so well kept and the countryside views make an amazing backdrop.
If the weather isn’t playing ball (this is England after all), the barn is a really beautiful indoor option with loads of character and a cosy atmosphere.
The evening reception at Pangdean
When the evening kicks off, Pangdean really comes into its own.
There’s a converted Stable space as well as the huge main barn, which means there’s loads of room for dinner, dancing and general wedding chaos once the party gets started.
The barn works brilliantly for bands and DJs, and once the dancefloor fills up it’s always a really good atmosphere.
Outside, the fire pits come out later in the evening, which is perfect for people who want a quieter spot to hang out, toast marshmallows and chat while everyone else is dancing inside.
It’s the kind of venue where the party tends to keep going until the very end.
