Hawthbush Farm Weddings

Hawthbush Farm is a stunning and magical woodland wedding venue in Sussex with a big, light and airy barn.
I'm lucky enough to have shot several Hawthbush Farm weddings.There's a woodland clearing for outdoor ceremonies and a big bright barn for dinner - as well as a hang out tent/garden room, open-sided barn for a bar, and a fire pit for marshmallows. There's also glamping in the meadow plus a few cottages for accommodation.
Hawthbush Farm is one of my favourite woodland wedding venues in Sussex. It’s tucked away in the countryside and has this magical, slightly wild feeling that makes it perfect for relaxed outdoor weddings.
One of the highlights of Hawthbush is the woodland ceremony area. Couples get married in a clearing surrounded by trees, which feels incredibly atmospheric and intimate.
Afterwards everyone heads back to the big barn for dinner and the evening party.
Wedding ceremonies at Hawthbush
You can get legally married in the woodland clearing, which has seating and a wooden arch you can decorate. The ceremony area is a bit of a walk down a path so you might want to rope in a friend to shuttle the wedding party and more frail guests up there.
The best bit about the woodland ceremony area is the winding woodland path that's perfect for confetti, and the walk back to the barn en masse with your guests. One of my couples carried a boombox so they could dance back!
Then you arrive back at the main barn where they'll put drinks out and everyone can hang out on the lawn or in one of the covered areas.
There’s loads of space for guests to explore too – from the meadow where people can camp to the fire pit area where everyone gathers once the sun goes down. It’s the kind of venue where people kick off their shoes, grab a drink and just enjoy the day.
I’ve photographed several weddings here over the years and every single one has had its own vibe, from chilled woodland ceremonies to full-on party evenings in the barn.

They hire out the venue for three days so you can set up on the Friday and have a chilled day on the Sunday. I can't think of a better way to finish off a wedding! You can also hire the cottages to stay in and get ready in - just a short walk down a track to the woodland ceremony area.
When your guests arrive they can pop next door to the Gun Brewery where there's a sunny open terrace, beer, and often a food truck.
The reception and dinner
Circa Events are in charge of food here, and they never disappoint. The barn is huge and the dinner seating area doesnt even need to be touched to get the party started - it's a barn of two halves!
At night you have the cosy fire pit outside the barn to toast marshmallows and have some peaceful time away from the dancefloor.
