Weddings like this remind me why I love doing what I do – full of laughter, heart, spontaneity and glorious bursts of colour. Georgia and Tom chose the Lewes Old Racecourse as their canvas, and together we painted a day that was vibrant, relaxed, deeply personal – and visually alive. Georgia and Tom had a Quaker ceremony, which is a quiet hour of reflection with everyone sitting in a circle.
Light, Laughter & Loose Moments
Portraits don’t have to be rigid. I love slipping in between moments – when someone tells a joke, when a bridesmaid teases, when the groom leans in for a whisper. That’s where the magic lives. At Lewes, the soft summer light, open grounds, and the energy of friends moving between ceremony and reception gave me space to chase those unscripted moments.
Bold Colour & Personal Touches
This wasn’t a day of muted pastels or pale blush. Georgia and Tom leaned into bold tones: rich florals, lively decorations, and thoughtful details that felt like them. It gave the gallery a vibrancy and contrast that plays beautifully against the delicate architecture and open sky of the old racecourse.
Ceremony & Emotional Highlights
Under open skies, surrounded by loved ones, the ceremony held quiet intimacy in its simple, honest exchanges. I watched (and listened) for the little tells: the catch in their voice, the hand squeeze mid-vow, tears of joy, and proud faces in the crowd. These are the images I return to – the ones that tell the emotional through-line of the day.
Dancing, Joy & After-Hours Glow
When the evening light dipped and the music took over, the dance floor became a playground. Confetti, movement, silhouettes — in dim light I chase shape and motion, letting ambient lighting and flickers of fun drive the story. I always keep an eye out for that one frame: the moment when two people forget everything else and just live the joy.
