A few weeks before this teeny wedding I got a phone call from a super lovely woman, who said her daughter was getting married but didn’t want a photographer – she didn’t want to be bossed about doing photos all day (fair enough!). So she was booking one for her in secret! She loved my natural, ninja style, so booked me based on the fact that I would blend in and wouldn’t tell anyone what to do – the ultimate compliment! After the wedding, I got this lovely email from her: “Thank you so very, very much for agreeing to photograph Chelcie and Craig’s wedding yesterday and doing such a fabulous job. You will know that Chelcie didn’t want anything ‘formal’ and yourself – and Todd especially – were like stealthy ninjas and took that brief on so brilliantly. Once again, thank you for being so wonderfully professional, organising us all so well (it’s must have felt like herding cats at times) and helping make the day so fabulous.”
Brief fulfilled I’d say!
The wedding was also a COMPLETE SECRET from all the guests! So to get their reactions was really fun – some knew, some had an inkling and some were completely shocked!
Chelcie and Craig got married on Brighton Bandstand – I haven’t shot a wedding on the Bandstand for years, so it was super exciting to get to do it again. It’s a great place for a wedding ceremony because you’ve got the relaxing sea, the beach below, views of both piers, and a seriously photogenic venue. It’s outside but inside, and I love it! It was a classic Brighton day – sun and windy, which made for great photos – I love windswept hair in wedding photos.
Everyone headed down to the beach and onto a restaurant where they had drinks and I left them to enjoy the rest of the afternoon. I’m quite enjoying these teeny weddings and short coverage, it’s so weird to go home and a whole evening free on the same day as a wedding!
