One of the biggest worries, when you’re planning a wedding, is the rain! Don’t worry – if we’re your photographers, we’ll make you wish for rain on your wedding day! It makes the photos fun, gives an epic element to your portraits and creates some stunning skies.
The weather affects our memories a lot. On a crisp chilly day with blue skies I’m always reminded of my childhood (I’m not sure why!) So if it rains on your wedding day, you’ll remember your wedding whenever it rains. It may even make you more fond of rain thanks to the positive memories!
Also… rain can make your photos look flipping magical. With a bit of nifty camera work, I can make drizzle look like glitter.
Plus, rain makes fun candid photos of your guests – whether they’re dashing across the lawn with jackets over their heads, or dancing in the rain in the evening, we’ll make it look awesome. Here are some rainy wedding inspo photos!
Here are some tips for rain on your wedding day (and some inspo photos):
Bring at least two umbrellas
One each! Also – suggest to your guests they have one in their car just in case (or you can hire umbrellas for your wedding if you’re feeling generous!)
Bring wellies
If you have a venue that has the potential to get muddy
Have a rain plan
If you’re planning an outdoor wedding ceremony, have a rain plan in case it’s torrential! The plan could be moving it indoors into the reception area, or having a gazebo – or simply bringing umbrellas and embracing the elements (and the cool photos!)
Get cool photos
Wedding photos are extra romantic and special in the rain. Don’t believe me? Check out the rainy wedding photos below!
Bring a sense of humour!
Let’s face it, the worst that can happen is your hair gets wet and your make up runs. Leave a hairdryer at the venue and bring a make-up bag to retouch. Actually the worst that can happen is you let it affect you and ruin your day. It’s all in the attitude! Everything is a story, and if everyone gets wet on your wedding day, they’ll have something to talk about at dinner parties for years. Remember: if you moan about the rain all day, that’s the part people will focus on when they’re retelling the story…
