Tunnels Beaches Devon Wedding // Kat + Mark

Jul 1, 2019 | Weddings

When I heard Tunnels Beaches wedding venue was holding an open day I sooo wanted to go and exhibit – I love it there so much. But it was 6 hours away from home, so I took a chance and sent an album and some framed photos to the venue and had an unmanned stand. As my partner and second shooter (and artist behind many of the photos in the gallery below) Todd says – only I could get several bookings from a wedding fair stand I wasn’t even at. I’m very sure he didn’t mean it as a compliment…

So Kat and Mark found me via my book being displayed unmanned at Tunnels Beaches open day – and subsequently had to answer to friends and family as to why they booked someone who lived 6 hours away. Well, I hope my photos below do their decision justice 🙂

We had a blast at Kat and Mark’s Tunnels Beaches wedding, especially because the table centrepieces were various biscuits – Iced Gems (just like my hair when I brush it!), Bourbons, Custard Creams – all the classics. Then there were the cookie favours, the lemon sponge and scone canapes, the brownies – with meringue on top! – the ice cream cart, and not to mention the epic wedding cake with gold drippings… Heaven!! (Or not so much heaven for someone trying very hard not to eat sugar – yes I caved.)

The best part of the day for us was the insane sunset. We didn’t think we’d get one (we’d been wearing double layers while the rest of the country sweltered in record temperatures) – plus there was a wall of cloud forming over the horizon. But for a moment the wall of cloud lifted to show a strip of orange glow – we grabbed Kat and Mark and legged it down to the beach to get photos on the rocks and around the tidal pool. It was totally worth being chilly all day! They had to put up with our groans of “ohhh so gorgeous” before we showed them how incredible it looked in the camera. I even got to wade into the tidal pool, which was lovely and refreshing and only slightly numbed my feet. One guest in fact skinnydipped later that night, so I can’t complain! Yes, I got photos. No, they’re not in this post.

Thanks so much to Todd Lawton my second shooter – he’s taken some absolute belters, including my favourite one – the kids waiting on the steps of Bath House for the groomsmen to walk to the venue before the ceremony. They’re looking super cute in their wedding outfits – meanwhile you can see the wedding dress hanging in the right-hand window. It’s wedding photo perfection, telling a whole story in one image.

Here’s Kat and Mark’s Tunnels Beaches wedding!
