The Ginger Pig is a Hove institution. Part of the Gingerman group of restaurants, it's got brilliant food, a genuinely warm atmosphere, and the kind of energy that makes wedding receptions feel like the best dinner party you've ever been to.
What I love about The Ginger Pig as a wedding venue is that it never feels like a wedding venue. It feels like a really excellent restaurant that you've somehow managed to take over for the day - and that energy is infectious. Guests arrive and immediately relax. The formality evaporates. People are just... having a lovely time. They have a small private room for you to have your own space, which you can come and decorate beforehand.
From a photography standpoint, The Ginger Pig has great light, warm interiors, and enough texture and character that the background of your photos does some real work. No blank hotel walls here.
Speeches at restaurant weddings tend to be some of my favourite things to shoot. Everyone's seated, everyone's full of good food and wine, and the emotional hits land really hard. I've got some brilliant crying-with-laughter photos from Ginger Pig weddings. The real stuff.
What the photography looks like here
Hove itself is also great for portraits - the avenues, the seafront, the parks. We've got loads of options depending on the season and what feels most like you.
Practical stuff
The Ginger Pig is in the heart of Hove, which makes it really accessible for guests coming in from Brighton and beyond.
