I first met Jack, the groom from today’s wedding, on a bus about 10 years ago when I was on my way home from rollerblading around London! We’re both chatterboxes, so we started chatting, and our friendship started from there. Jack is a signwriter and Chrissy is a previous wedding planner, so I was very curious to see what their wedding would be like!
They originally planned to get married in Cyprus, but Covid put a stop to that, and they instead got married at York House in Twickenham followed by a party at their local cricket club. We even popped home to get their dog, Marble! Jack wrote the sign and gilded the cake (yup, that’s a real gold cake!) and the wedding colours were the exact same ones as my brand! It was a very colourful wedding, right up my street. Chrissy even painted her dress herself. I think she has a future career in wedding dress altering!
Jack and Chrissy are a gorgeous lovely couple, and they have two of the cutest kids ever – who wore matching dresses to the bride, but with amazing 80s poofy sleeves. So. Damned. Cute.
The whole wedding was a riot of colour and noise, and it was so much fun. It was so simple, just the way I like it – a low-key venue, nice people, pizza, cake and a 9pm ‘get out of here’ time.
The fact that there were about 13 toddlers made it even more wild – and they all discovered the ‘slither down the steps’ game right before speeches, which made for some amusing photos. At one point in the photos I feel like there’s a bit of a Lord of the Flies vibe, which as a photographer I found brilliant – I love the juxtaposition of kids with mucky outfits wielding poles vs nice wedding guests getting emotional during a speech. I even got a snap of Todd about to be accosted by a pole-weilding child – it’s hilarious.
Enjoy this wild, colourful, riotous wedding!
