{Destination wedding} Mykonos Greek Island Wedding // Julie + Dave

May 23, 2016 | Destination weddings, Summer weddings, TYPE OF WEDDING, Weddings, Weddings

I love destination weddings: you get different light, surroundings, colours – and everyone is super happy because not only are the at a wedding but they’re also on holiday! Julie and Dave got married in Mykonos, a Greek island famous for blue skies, whitewashed buildings and a pelican called Peter.

I travelled to Mykonos 5 days before the wedding to get some photos of the island for the wedding album (but what I didn’t expect was to find a tiny baby kitten and to try to adopt her!) The day before the wedding the whole party went on a sunset cruise to the archaeological island of Delos before having an early night. Bright and early on the wedding morning the bridal party had a yoga session (cue lots of giggles at the couples’ poses), followed by a relaxing lunch and a GnT pre-ceremony reception at a proper whitewash Greek villa.

Julie and Dave decided to have a sunset ceremony at the lighthouse which was walking distance from villa #1 – a popular spot for watching the sunset, and we had a little jaunt around the island beforehand for portraits in a little Fiat 500 – a surprise Dave had organised for Julie!

The ceremony included a dreamcatcher where guests wrote their wishes for the couple, and the wedding was officiated by their joint friend Jess – cue tears all round.

After the ceremony guests watched the sun set behind the mountains and headed to a second villa where the lovely Beth had prepared incredible Greek dishes – including octopus! – and wasn’t long before the party got started.

I had such a blast shooting this awesome destination wedding. How happy does everyone look?! And how awesome is Julie’s big laugh? It’s infectious even in photos!

ps can you spot the cat in the pigeon photo – it’s possibly my favourite travel photo ever.
