So I shot a wedding in New Zealand! Those Kiwis know how to party… The wedding took place on the bride Mel’s parents’ beach in the Marlborough Sounds, where Mel grew up on a farm. Before the wedding I went to check out the beach to see where it was all going down, and I came across Mel and her bridesmaids covering themselves in mud! I was so glad I had my camera on me…
The wedding kicked off with the ceremony on a boat, followed by zooming around with the bridal party in a motorboat going from the forested (and bee-hive) mountains to private beaches where they ate, drank and mooned fellow sailors – all the usual things. After messing around on the boat (while the guests had a big boat party elsewhere, slowly making their way across the Sounds to the village school hall for the party) we sailed to the reception, which was held at the school Mel went to – it was so tiny, only about 8 kids attend! It was an awesome night, and everyone was shipped (literally) back to their various accommodations at the end of the night (otherewise they’d have been stranded!)
New Zealand is such a stunning country and I felt so lucky to shoot such an awesome wedding there. If you’re wondering how it came about, Mel was my hairdresser in Brighton before she moved back home to NZ! Watch this space for my New Zealand travel pics – we spent 3 weeks travelling after the wedding!
