San Galgano Tuscany wedding // Bara + Jason

Oct 10, 2017 | Destination weddings, Outdoor weddings, Summer weddings, Weddings

Bara and Jason got married in Tuscany, Italy, at Villa Podernovo (which has a resident chubby Weimaraner called Spike), with the ceremony at San Galgano – a roofless Gothic 13th-century abbey. It was exactly what you imagine a Tuscany wedding to look like – a crumbly old building and bright blue skies, and later dinner under a fairy-lit tree with the golden glowing sunset in the background.

Bara and Jason found me via an Italy wedding planner who I used to work with back in my magazine days, and by total coincidence they live down the road from me! They also own Union Furniture, which is basically like being in a sweet shop for adults.

“We met at work in London. In a shop window. Jason was a window prop supplier and Bara was a window dresser for TMLewin. Our friendship grew through Nathan (Jason’s best friend) who worked with Bara at TMLewin.

“We chose Italy simply because it is our favourite place in Europe, we love the lifestyle, food and warm weather. We have spent many holidays in Tuscany (some with our friends Nathan and Holly [the girl totally pulling off the red lips and red dress]). And also because Bara‘s best friend Daiana is Italian it was a simple choice.

“Our wedding planner Lucy recommended 5 different photographers but we chose you for your fun outlook. Your photography is more real, you capture details that other photographers don’t.

“We are most looking forward to having a good party with friends and family and driving away from San Galgano in a vintage car as a married couple. We created DYI decoration – hand painted and personalised pebble name tags for table setting. Mini hand fans with name tags in San Galgano. Hand written chalk boards and 2 mannequins holding a welcome board as a symbol of how we met. The best advice we can give anyone planning a wedding is, if you are getting married abroad definitely get a wedding planner. Legal documents take longer than you think to acquire.
