The Better Half in Hove is the kind of pub that makes you feel immediately at home the moment you walk through the door. Which is exactly what you want when you're planning a wedding that should feel like... well, like you.
Pub weddings have really had a moment in recent years and I'm fully here for it. There's something about doing your wedding in a proper, characterful pub that strips away the pomposity and leaves just the good bits - the people, the laughter, the genuinely excellent day.
Indoors, the pub has that warm, textured feel that photographs really beautifully - exposed brick, interesting light, plenty of character. And the staff there are genuinely lovely, which always makes the day feel easier.
What the photography looks like here
Pub receptions are among my absolute favourite things to shoot. The Better Half's space gives loads of opportunity for relaxed portraits and brilliant candids - people mid-laugh, mid-dance, mid-very-important-conversation-about-the-buffet.
Practical stuff
Dogs often make an appearance at Better Half weddings. I am an enthusiastic photographer of wedding dogs. Just saying.
