A few years ago, I had the absolute joy of photographing a wedding at the stunning Manoir de Longeveau in France. Nestled in the heart of the French countryside, this venue is the perfect blend of elegance, charm, and timeless beauty - an ideal backdrop for a wedding full of love and laughter.
But getting there was anything but ordinary. My flight was cancelled, as were those of the best man and a few other guests. As luck - or maybe fate - would have it, we found each other at the airport.
With flights booked up across the entire country, we faced a dilemma: how on earth were we going to get to the wedding on time? That’s when I made the decision - I rented a car and drove us all straight to the Manoir. Through the night, under the glow of French streetlights and the quiet hum of the motorway (and a million tolls), we went on an adventure together. It was equal parts chaotic, hilarious, and oddly bonding. I did get a bit grumpy from lack of sleep but made up for it when we got there!
Thankfully, I had planned to arrive two days early, which gave us the buffer we needed. We rolled into the Manoir de Longeveau, tired but exhilarated, just in time for the evening before BBQ. And what a wedding it was - the gardens blooming, the light perfect for portraits, and every detail of the day radiating joy and love. We even got some photos in a sunflower field.
Looking back, the journey there has become as memorable as the wedding itself. Manoir de Longeveau is not just a breathtaking venue - it’s a place that rewards perseverance, adventure, and a little bit of spontaneity.
If you’re dreaming of a romantic French wedding, this hidden gem will not disappoint… just make sure your flights aren't Easyjet!
